New Visitor to our yard - painted lady butterflyCame home from work today to a new visitor in our garden - got out of the car, looked over at the butterfly bush and there was a painted lady. I was only able to take two shots quickly as I always have my camera (not the greatest shots) and away it flew.... but it made my day!
Uploaded on Aug 21, 2008 Red Tail Hawk, Willowbrook Wildlife, Glen Ellyn, ILPicture was taken in July, just hadn't posted it. This red tail hawk lives at Willowbrook Wildlife - it was injured and could not be returned to the wild. He is used in their education series and is fed what he would eat in the wild. It's sad to see him trying to fly - such a magestic raptor!!!
Uploaded on Aug 21, 2008 This folded wing skipper butterfly must think this painted bench is real flowersWon't get much pollen this way!!
Uploaded on Aug 20, 2008 Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name.....(The Doors)I often wonder what a butterfly thinks when it sees you - or even do they think?
Uploaded on Aug 19, 2008 My office has gone greenWhat does this mean? They no longer serve styrofoam in the cafeterias for takeout .... even the silverwear is biodegradable. Unfortunately, the containers leak and the silverwear breaks when you use it. All this for an additional .25 for the use of it. They also have planted the roof of our building with prairie plants native to Illinois......wait until the geese start showing up!!
